Kapurthala Lynching: No 'proof of heresy', FIR to be altered, says Punjab CM Channi.

On Friday, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi stated that there was no evidence of "blasphemy" in a gurudwara in Kapurthala, and that the state government will change the initial data report (FIR) filed in the case.

On December 19, an unidentified man was beaten to death in Nizampur, Kapurthala, for allegedly insulting the 'Nishan Sahib' at the town Gurudwara. Videos of people assaulting someone accused of heresy have gone viral on the internet.

According to the residents, the man admitted to coming to submit heresy. SSP Kapurthala Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh, however, believes the man was attempting to commit a robbery when he was apprehended.

According to GS Dhillon, examiner general of police (Jalandhar Range), there was no visible evidence of blasphemy during their investigation, and the police are investigating the charges. 

Authorities reported on Thursday that the unidentified man slain in Kapurthala for alleged blasphemy was struck with a sharp weapon, according to an assessment.

Following Channi's public interview, Arvind Kejriwal, the public convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), said there was a plot behind the fresh cases of heresy and the bomb in a court in Ludhiana. The Delhi chief pastor further said that Punjab's "frail government" has failed to enforce the law.

"There had been cases of blasphemy just a few days before. There is now an influence on Ludhiana. Such incidents occur prior to polls as part of a plan to destabilise the state's peaceful climate. It is the work of a small group of people "During a meeting with columnists in Amritsar, Kejriwal stated. 

He stated that he has complete faith in the people of Punjab and that they will overcome the nefarious plots of those seeking to create pressure.
